-Politics-
My mother is very heartbroken recently. Actually is the whole family. Since young, I'm rather interested in reading news regarding politics. The recent reports on General Election is really killing me. To think of it. Maybe my previous thought that we need a least an opposition in the parliment is totally dumb. Especially when the elected opposition had his mouth shut for the past 4 years before election. And now claims to the people that he need to be in the Parliment so the voice of people can be heard. Bullshit.
Take Sylvia Lim's speech of what policies they wanna scrap off.
1. Do away with the Free-Trade Agreement (FTA)
2. Scrap off all GST
3.Allow people to choose the hospital class ward they wanna stay
Discussion time. Dumb-ass. Without FTA, does she know how many jobs will be lost? Does she know what globalisation is all about? A country like Singapore, with no resources, where do we stand in the world? FTA is a form that attract investment. Without foreign investment, Singapore will be doom. The dumbest thing she ever said was, "Why George Yeo is hardly seen in Aljunied GRC for the past few years?" Smart gal, what does foreign minister means to you? A minister that remain in Singapore while people come to visit you? Who do you think we are? the dirt in man nose (a MP from taiwan called us that). Insulting isn't it? With Sylvia Lim's guidance, where will we be? Get this straight, if Aljunied GRC is won by WP. We are done for it. We will lose Mr George Yeo as our Foreign Minister as he will not be in Parliment.
Another suggestion, scraping off GST. So where does the government get money to invest for the country. If GST is scrap, the citizens will be heavyily tax. Isn't it easier to see little amount being paid to the government each time than one large sum at one go? And GST is a fair system. The more you spend, the more tax you will get. If we adopt WP idea, those who do not spend much will be tax as high as those who spend much more. Will it be fair?
Last point, the one that they mention at last night rally at Hougang Ave 4. Allowing people to have a choice which Class Ward they want to stay when warded in hospital. Aren't we given the choice? Except that the choice will be restricted with your monthly income. I think the government is right in restricting the choices. Look, if a man wil monthly incoem of $600, wants to stay in Class A1. Does he have enough money to pay for the medical bills? Citizen kept grumbling about how government is unfair to them by controlling every bit of they money, from CPF to Medisave to Medishield to their kids Edusave. But have they ever realise the government are trying to plan for us? What if you have fall seriously ill and need a large sum of money? Medisave is the one that help you out diffcult time. Some may say they do not need the government to plan for them as they will save on their own. But how many have the discipline to put in money to the own account for medical fees every month? Very few. They expect the government to pay their bills while where they spend their money? And when one retire, where do you get money to spend? CPF helps to save and allow you to lead a comfortable life for the next 30 years.
Let me enlighten you. Lottery. When the Progress Package fund entered citizens accounts for the past few days, the 4D and Toto queues are always long. Why are some people so narrow-minded? While they are busy buying lottery and complaining electricity bills are soaring, they are blind or deaf to the news broadcast on TV. A barrel of oil is now US$70, almost three times the price of last year. Obviously electricity bills will soar and transport fee will increase. What do you think bus is running on? Fuel of course! If people really wanna allow price to stop soaring, start digging into the ground and see whether miraclously there is crude oil on our island.
Now all I wish is Mr George Yeo led team will win Aljunied. And people are enlighten soon enough before voting. *Pray*
